The speaker this year is Dr. Vanessa Holden, director of the African American and Africana Studies Program as well as the Central Kentucky Slavery Initiative at the University of Kentucky. She will be presenting on her book Surviving Southampton: African American Women and Resistance in Nat Turner’s Community.
